In 2020, the historian and researcher of the history of Wrocław made a sensational discovery. Several tens of kilometers from Wrocław, he came across fragments of the famous Neptune Fountain, which since 1732 adorned one of the main squares in our city — Plac Nowy Targ. The monument was considered irretrievably destroyed during the siege of Festung Breslau in 1945. However, it turned out that a completely different object fell victim to the destruction.
How did it happen that the fountain in Wrocław migrated to Syców? How old was the fountain on Nowy Targ Square, destroyed in 1945? And how did the researcher come to the trail of this unusual story? The discoverer of the Baroque Neptune Fountain, Dr. Tomasz Sielicki, will tell about this.
