Activities for children aged 7 — 12 with carers
How to measure time with gears and a pendulum? During the class we will discover the secrets of ancient clocks. We will learn simple mechanisms and assemble a model inspired by their operation.
In the class, participants will see what simple machines are in the clock and how they interact to drive the timekeeping mechanism. They will perform pendulum experiments, as well as find out where they can be found and used. Attendees will also learn about different methods of measuring time, and at the exhibition they will see the fascinating interior of the tower clock. During the practical part of the classes in the educational room, each of the participants will construct their own model of an important element of the pendulum clock, the so-called capture.
