Jakub Skorupa “I'm trying to heal from you”

The autumn tour of Jakub Skorupa is a unique opportunity to hear live a cross-section of his work so far. During the concert, the artist will also present the premiere material from his upcoming third studio album.

The shell combines guitar alternative with indie rock, yet it's the direct, raw storytelling that makes his music resonate so strongly with the audience. The title of the tour refers to the song “Deaf Phone”, which became a personal manifesto for fans. It is about this song that listeners most often tell the artist behind the scenes, sharing the experiences that she helped them go through.

Before he hit the festival stages, he poured beer at mining feasts and worked for a London corporation. These experiences return in his work as stories of finding his own place and trying to break out of imposed schemes.

His music is inextricably linked to the landscape in which he grew up: the view of the heaps and the rhythm of freight trains. Raised on the severity of grunge and the cult aesthetics of Viva Zwei, he creates songs of the nature of nocturnal confessions — about growing up in a cold, Upper Silesian city and taming fear. Live, these stories turn into an intense, communal experience full of distance and irony, during which the audience sings entire verses about things that are usually kept silent about.

Winner of the Album of the Year by the weekly “Polityka” (for the album “Zeszyt drugi”) and the Grzegorz Ciechowski Award. He has two nominations for Fryderyk, the title of Discovery of the Empire and performances at the most important Polish festivals, including OFF Festival, Męskie Granie and Inne Brzenie. He has collaborated with artists such as Dawid Tyszkowski, Marcelina and Piotr Zioła.
