As part of Concordia Talks, we will meet with Jakub Żulczyk and talk about the author's latest book entitled “Mr. Darek”.

Mr. Darek is the third and at the same time the last novel in the world “Blinding from the Lights”. It will take you deep inside the head of the guy who became the most adored black character in Polish pop culture after 1989. You already know something about Mr. Dark. You know he likes it with sugar, without lemon. You know he likes to travel — Montenegrin, Thailand. You know he's a little disturbed. But you don't really know anything about him. You'll find out only now...

It's 1990. Free Poland has arrived and Mr. Darek is free too. He's free because he's out of prison. He is free, because he does not have the strength to move quickly, to strike out of surprise. Once, before Sztum, during the communes, Mr. Darek was a guest. He ate suckers like roast chickens. He took everything he wanted, and did not even look. He was powerful. Now he's frail. Not good, because the world around Mr. Dark has turned upside down: opportunities lurk around every corner, money is lying on the street, you just have to bend down for it. Just don't be a sucker.

But to do this, it is necessary to somehow deceive this bastard Zmora, which shoved a fraudulent contract into her paws...

Jakub Żulczyk (1983) — author of the books Blind from the Lights and its sequel Once Upon a Time in Warsaw, co-writer of the cult series based on the first. Awarded the Warsaw Literary Prize for the novel The Hill of Dogs. Screenwriter of Belfr and Warszawianka. Co-author of the podcast “What to do after rehab”. Translated, nominated. He graduated from the Jagiellonian University, with a farce. He lives a little in Warsaw and a little in Masuria.
