Jalen Ngonda

The concert is organized by Luger and Amager Bio & BETA.

Jalen Ngonda stands as one of today's most compelling innovators of soul music — an artist who, with deep respect for the genre's roots, leads it into a new era. With his second album 'Doctrine Of Love', he cements his position as both a tradition-bearer and innovator: a singer and songwriter who channels the legacy of Marvin Gaye, Jackie Wilson and David Ruffin, but without disappearing into nostalgia.

The album is packed with confidence, elegance and an irresistible swing. The title number sets the direction with its danceable energy and its open interpretation of love as philosophy, code and attitude to life. Ngonda's falsetto hovers effortlessly over tight rhythms, strings and guitar figures, pulling strings to both Detroit, Chicago and New Orleans in the late-'60s.

Ngonda differs from many other, contemporary retro-soul artists with his uncompromising lifestyle and aesthetic. He lives soul music to the fullest -- from the vinyl chase and analog soundscape to the stage persona as a classic, well-dressed gentleman. Live, he unites musicality, charisma and feeling in performances that feel as timeless as they are present.

The lucky ones can experience this in Amager Bio.
