James Ehnes violin ; Orion Weiss piano

Three strikingly individual compositions form the abundant musical substance of James Ehnes’s recital. The Canadian musician, described by The Times as ‘a violinist in a class of his own’ and by The Telegraph as ‘an artist of the first order’, offers the chance not only to hear his aristocratic playing but also to experience the contrasting musical worlds of Beethoven, Schubert and Prokofiev: from the serene maturity of Beethoven’s final violin sonata and the dazzling virtuosity of Schubert’s Rondo brillant to the eerie intensity and profound drama of Prokofiev’s First Violin Sonata.
