JAMIE BAUM QUARTET, ANKE HELFRICH TRIO & JUDITH OWEN SEPTET

Transcontinentally phenomenal: the “JazzNights Special” with the bands of multi-award-winning American flutist Jamie Baum and German pianist Anke Helfrich, “one of the figureheads of German jazz, a pioneer” (NDR), will deliver what many promise. The two outstanding leaders and their top-class ensembles not only stand for improvisational and compositional excellence, for diversity and variety and all the consistent qualities that make jazz so exciting today in particular, they are also strong female voices in a music world that is still dominated by men.

On different musical paths, the two bands explore the question “What Times Are These,” as the title of Jamie Baum's seventh album, and come together at the end of the concert evening to an inspiring conclusion, which is also found in the title of Helfrich's current work and encourages and encourages us all: We'll Rise, something like: “It goes upwards”.

Judith Owen is managed by Pat Rains (including Al Jarreau, Randy Crawford, David Sanborn) and has recently appeared on international stages in Great Britain, Spain and France. With the first single from her new album, which is now being released worldwide, she gives a foretaste of her current program. In summer, she is also on stage in London for the musical “Hoover”. In autumn, she and her band come to Germany for selected concerts.
