Concert as part of the XVII PalmJazz Festival.
Jan Garbarek is one of those artists who can be recognized by several sounds. The distinctive sound of his saxophone has remained one of the most expressive voices of European jazz for more than five decades. Albums recorded for ECM Records, a long-term collaboration with Keith Jarrett and the legendary Officium project with The Hilliard Ensemble have made him one of the most influential musicians of the modern improvised scene.
The PalmJazz audience has already had the opportunity to meet the music of Jan Garbarek several times. However, each return to Gliwice is a separate event — not only because of new interpretations, but above all because of the unusual atmosphere of his concerts. Tannery does not interrupt music with comments, does not build tension with words. It allows the story to unfold solely through sound — from almost inaudible, focused phrases to expressive climaxes. These are concerts that require careful listening, but remain in the memory for a long time.
During the 17th edition of PalmJazz Jan Garbark will be accompanied by musicians with whom he has been creating one of the most recognizable ensembles of European jazz for years. Pianist Rainer Brüninghaus, Brazilian bassist Yuri Daniel and percussion master Trilok Gurtu are not just accompanists of the leader — they co-create the quartet's musical world, based on mutual trust, experience and freedom of improvisation. It is thanks to this long-term collaboration that each concert develops naturally, leaving room for spontaneity and musical discoveries.
Performance by Jan Garbarek Group feat. Trilok Gurtu will be one of the most important events of the 17th PalmJazz Festival and the next chapter of the unique history that has been connecting the Norwegian saxophonist with the Gliwice audience for years.
We invite you to the XVII PalmJazz Festival.
