Helicopets is a quartet that moves on the border between experimental jazz and improvised music. The leader of the band is guitarist Adam Baran, and the line-up is complemented by bass clarinetist Magdalena Sowul, drummer Józef Biegański and bassist Roman Chraniuk.
The sound of Helicopets draws inspiration from classical avant-garde jazz, electronics, trip-hop and ambience. The band juxtaposes spatial, moody ballads with noise and electronic improvisations, moving freely between precise structure and controlled chaos.
In 2024, the quartet made its debut at the Jazz Juniors festival in Krakow, winning five special prizes awarded by the European partners of the event. These distinctions resulted in a European tour in 2025. The band has performed at NOSPR in Katowice, JazzFestBrno, Opus Jazz Club in Budapest, Jazz in the Vineyard festival in Croatia, and held an artistic residency in Aalborg as part of an award given by Jazz Danmark.
In March 2026, the band's debut album entitled “Helicopeter” will be released. In addition to Adam Baran and Magdalena Sowul, the album features Norwegian rhythm section: drummer Sigurd Steinkopf, bassist Jone Kuven and electronic music producer Paweł Rychert.
