About the event

Jazz Sabbath is a British trio led by 2026 Grammy Award winner Adam Wakeman, a pianist with more than two decades of association with Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne's solo band. The band creates original jazz arrangements of songs recognized as the foundation of heavy metal, discovering new harmonies, rhythms and space for improvisation. Very soon this unusual project will appear on the Blue Note stage.

The project has been surrounded by a perverse legend from the beginning. Musicians with a grain of salt convince that their band was formed as early as 1968, and it was they who wrote the compositions that Black Sabbath later made famous. Whether we treat this story as part of a stage narrative or simply a good time, one thing remains certain — Jazz Sabbath impresses with its musical quality and unique idea.

Jazz Sabbath has gained recognition in both the jazz and rock circles. Jazz Journal described the project as “surprisingly excellent”, and its interpretations were also appreciated by the creators of the original repertoire themselves. “I really love it,” Ozzy Osbourne said, while Tony Iommi called them “excellent interpretations.”

Since their debut in 2020, the trio has released three albums that have topped the Billboard Jazz Chart. Their concerts regularly sell out well ahead of schedule, and the band performs at major jazz festivals and stages in Europe and the world.

In Jazz Sabbath interpretations, Black Sabbath compositions reveal their less obvious face. The trio does not so much transfer them to the world of jazz as to extract elements from them, which — thanks to improvisation, rhythmic changes and new harmonic solutions — allow us to look at this repertoire from a completely different perspective.
