Dima Gorelik is an Israeli guitarist, composer, vocalist, music producer and improviser of Ukrainian origin, living and creating in Warsaw for many years. His music is created at the intersection of jazz, improvisation and traditions of different parts of the world — from Jewish and Middle Eastern melodies, through Ukrainian, Roma and Turkish music, to Latin American rhythms, elements of Indian raga, African Gnawa music and contemporary forms of fusion. Instead of treating these languages as separate stylistic quotations, Gorelik builds his own recognizable way of storytelling out of them: music based on dialogue, a shift in perspective, and the gradual discovery of the common sources of seemingly distant cultures.

During his education, Gorelik had the opportunity to meet on stage with such musicians as Max Roach, James Moody, Adam Nussbaum, Shai Maestro, Daniel Zamir and Itamar Doari. He has been awarded twice by the America—Israel Cultural Foundation.
One of the first important bands of Gorelik was the project “Anno Domini”, combining jazz, rock, elements of classical music and Jewish, Ukrainian, Azerbaijani and Roma traditions.
At the end of the first decade of the 21st century, Gorelik connected his artistic activity with Poland.
In 2015, Gorelik played on the concert release “KK Pearls, Aukso & Moś, Soyka — Live”. The recording was performed by KK Pearls, the AUKSO orchestra conducted by Marek Mosia and Stanisław Soyka.
His collaboration with Krzysztof Kobyliński also led to meetings with a wide range of European jazz and world music, including Erik Truffaz, Trilok Gurtu, Louis Sclavis, Clarence Penn, Ziv Ravitz and Zohar Fresco.
Gorelik's discography includes the roles of leader, sideman, arranger, composer and producer. The most important projects include a co-authored duet with multi-instrumentalist Vladiswar Nadishana.
Gorelik also participated in the recording of the album “Vesna” of the Polish-Ukrainian project Babooshki. He also participated in Joszek Brody's “Deborah” project.
Cooperation with Maria Pomianowska took both phonographic and concert form. Gorelik played on the album “LutosLowianie. On the route of the Mazowsze w Korona Festival”, the Maria Pomianowska Orchestra, and the Pomianowska—Gorelik duo presented a specially prepared program during Singer's Warsaw Festival. With Anna Maria Jopek and Maria Pomianowska, he performed, among others, the piece “Whispers and Tears”, the concert recording of which is available to the public.
A separate line of activity, which continues to this day, is formed by cooperation with Krzysztof Ścierański. Gorelik performs with Ścierański in a duet and in the project “Krzysztof Ścierański International Edition”. The international edition also included Shachar Elnatan and Inbar Elnatan. Ścierański described Gorelik as “a phenomenal guitarist and versatile virtuoso,” adding: “If you hear his name, it's worth coming to his concert.”
The original formation, operating under the names “Dima Gorelik 3O”, “Dima Gorelik 3°” and “Dima Gorelik Trio”, became the main compositional laboratory of the artist. At various times it was composed by Shachar Elnatan, Peter Somos, Franciszek Poalski and Inbar Elnatan. Unusual instrumentation — guitars, bass guitar or double bass, drums, percussion instruments, voice, darbuka and cajón — allowed the band to smoothly transition from chamber structures to dense, multi-layered improvisation.
The latest stage in the development of Gorelik's original language is the international quartet “Kolot — The Voices”. The Hebrew word “kolot” means “voices” — the name refers to both multilingual singing and the equivalent instrumental, cultural, and personal voices present in the band's music.
The project grew out of the Dima Gorelik Trio. Its current form began to take shape at the end of 2024, when Polish singer and songwriter Agata Skrzypek joined the instrumental body.
Kolot combines free jazz improvisation with Jewish, Arabic, Turkish, Roma and Latin American traditions. The multilingual repertoire includes original compositions and texts in several languages, as well as creatively processed traditional motifs. According to the artist's materials, the band's program has grown to more than twenty author's works, developed during concerts, tours and studio sessions.
