JAZZAMEL #78
19 | Kasia Pietrzko Trio, Maciej Kądziela & Andrzej Chyra — Norwid
Great Hall
NORWID is a project whose concept is based on the author's jazz interpretation of selected works of the fourth stanza, read by the outstanding actor, Andrzej Chyre. The world of improvisation emerges in an intriguing relationship with the selection of Norwid's lyrics, which serve as an impulse for musicians to create an individual and unique commentary.
CONTRACTORS:
Kasia Pietrzko — piano, compositions, selection of texts
Maciej Kądziela — alto saxophone, compositions, selection of texts
Andrzej Święs — double bass

trio
For several years Kasi Pietrzko has been actively conducting its activity both
concert as well as phonographic. Thanks to the outstanding artistic
the activities of this band have become extremely consistent in sound, which undoubtedly
influenced the dynamic development of his career. The leader of the trio is a laureate of, among others.
“Mateusz” — music award of the Third Polish Radio Program in the category
Debut of the Year for the album “Forthright Stories” (2018) and the Grand Prix “Jazz
Melomani” in the category Hope of Melomanians (2018). Monthly “Jazz Forum”
awarded her the title of New Hope of 2019; she was also nominated for the Award
Musical Fryderyk 2018 in the Debut of the Year category. In “Norway” he joined the trio
alto saxophonist Maciej Kądziela, with whom Kasia Pietrzko for the first time
collaborated in the US during the recording of the album “Jammin with KC” on Make Believe
Studios in Kansas City. Editor of the Second Polish Radio Program Andrzej
Zieliński in an article describing the performance of “Jazz Forum Talents” at the Jazz Festival
on the Oder wrote:
‒
I particularly liked it
Maćk Kądeli's saxophone song, sounding in places like a lamenting trumpet
Stops. Maybe this is one of the reasons for the collaboration between pianist and saxophonist
— after all, Kasia Pietrzko toured with Tomasz Stańko just before his death.
Andrzej Chyra is one of the most appreciated actors
film and theatre — constantly looking for new forms of expression and
unobvious, artistic confrontations. He has worked and cooperated with
the most important directors: Andrzej Wajda, Krzysztof Krauze,
Krzysztof Zanussi, Feliks Falek, Marek Koterski, Jacek Borcuch
or Małgorzata Szumowska. In the theater, he performed in plays by, among others, Jerzy
Grzegorzewski, Agnieszka Glińska and Grzegorz Jarzyna. In 2001 he played
Dionysus in Euripides' Bachantki directed by Krzysztof Warlikowski
Theater of Variety in Warsaw. Since then, he constantly performs in the theater
Krzysztof Warlikowski.
