JazzClub/Lakecia Benjamin/New York City's Big Voice

Diversity and multiculturalism. These two words perfectly describe saxophonist Lakecia Benjamin and her music. She grew up in New York in a neighborhood of the Dominican diaspora, so artistic paths naturally led her first towards Latin music. She gained fame with an album with compositions by Alice and John Coltrane. Phoenix's 2023 album earned her three Grammy nominations and a Jazz Journalists Association Award. She played in the company of giants of jazz (Clark Terry, Reggie Workman), soul and R&B (Stevie Wonder, Alicia Keys, The Roots). She recorded her latest album We Dream with a plethora of stars including Chris Potter, Terence Blanchard, Hiromi, Bilal, Chief Xian aTunde Adjuah and Kassa Overall. Lakecia Benjamin fascinates the audience with both her music and her unique, original stage image.
