Bernard Maseli The Nomads — October 23, 2026

The second evening of Jazz Autumn will belong to Bernard Maseli — one of the most recognizable Polish vibraphonists. The concert is part of a project related to the 40th anniversary of his artistic work.

Bernard Maseli began his career in 1985 with the band Walk Away, making his debut at the Jazz on the Oder Festival. With the band he recorded eleven albums and performed at the most important jazz festivals in Poland and abroad. He toured, among others, during tours with Urszula Dudziak and Miles Davis. He co-created the bands Young Power, Music Painters, Back In and Laboratorium, as well as author projects The Globetrotters and MaBaso. He has also collaborated with, among others, Michał Urbaniak, Anna Maria Jopek, Mino Cinelu, Dean Brown, Mike Stern and Frank Gambale.

For more than 30 years he has been associated with the Academy of Music in Katowice, where he created the first jazz vibraphone class in Poland. In 2021, his author's album “Drifter” was released, released in the series “Polish Jazz Masters”. In 2025, together with the Walk Away band, he received the Golden Fryderyk Award for Lifetime Achievement.

For The Nomads project Bernard Maseli invited musicians freely moving between jazz, soul, world music and contemporary sounds. The band consists of the Mauritian singer Rouhangeze and esteemed representatives of the Polish jazz scene — Michał Kapczuk and Paweł Dobrowolski. Each of the artists brings their own experiences and inspirations to the music, thanks to which the concert combines extensive improvisations, expressive rhythm and diverse musical traditions.

Rouhangeze, also known as Ruh, is a singer, songwriter, music producer and radio presenter originally from Mauritius and currently based in London. In his work, he combines Mauritian rhythms with jazz, soul and world music. She has collaborated with Linley Marthe, Antonio Forcione, Rachel Z and Omar Hakim, among others. She represented Mauritius at international events, including the G20 summit in Delhi in 2023. On the air of the British Jazz FM, he hosts the program “Jazz Travels”.

Michał Kapczuk — double bass player and bass guitarist, co-creating jazz, rock and pop projects. He has toured in many European countries and in Canada. He is a laureate of numerous team and individual competitions, as well as scholarships from the Minister of Culture and National Heritage.

Paweł Dobrowolski — drummer, lecturer at the Academy of Music in Katowice and three-time Fryderyk Laureate. He has collaborated with Anna Maria Jopek, Nigel Kennedy, Terence Blanchard, Randy Brecker, Richard Bona, Jeff Beck, Michal Urbaniak and Urszula Dudziak, among others. He has performed on such stages as the Royal Albert Hall in London, Olympia in Paris, Ronnie Scott's, Blue Note in Tokyo and New Morning in Paris.
