Jazz Wednesdays in Osterwo: Dziady na jazzowo

“Jazz Wednesdays in Osterwa” is a new series of artistic events, realized by the Juliusz Osterwa Theater in Lublin during the 2026/2027 artistic season. The new format will combine theater, literature and jazz music. Through the formula of performative reading, literary text, acting interpretation and live music will not only establish a creative dialogue, but together create a coherent interdisciplinary artistic expression.

The first part of the series will be “Dziady na jazzowo” — a meeting with the second part of Adam Mickiewicz's “Dziadów”. The drama, inspired by the ancient rite of suffocation, full of mysteries, symbols and questions about human choices, will sound this time in dialogue with live music.

Jazz will not be a background for a literary text, but an equivalent means of interpretation.

Jazz improvisation, rhythm, pause and variation of tempo will bring out new tensions, emotions and meanings from Mickiewicz's drama.

The event will be attended by the actors of the Juliusz Osterwa Theatre in Lublin and invited jazz musicians.

Wojciech Mościbrodzki is responsible for the musical coordination of the series.
