Jazz Thursday — “Skaldowie na Jazzowo”

“Skaldowie na Jazzowo” is an original project of the leader, recognized jazz musician, Wojciech Gogolewski, who arranged the famous songs of Andrzej Zieliński in instrumental, jazz versions.On 26 November at 19:00 we will hear the most popular Skald songs, such as “Prześlična celoncelistka” or “Z kopyta kulig rwie”. In the program, familiar melodies are intertwined with improvisation, which gives the songs a new, club character, but allows them to maintain their original theme. The musicians approached the Skaldy material with great respect for the original — although the songs are instrumental and saturated with improvisation, their characteristic melodic lines remain legible to the listener, which makes this concert accessible even for people who do not listen to a lot of jazz on a daily basis.

The composition of the team:

Wojciech Gogolewski (piano) — an icon of Polish jazz; pianist, composer and arranger, a graduate of the famous Jazz Faculty of the Academy of Music in Katowice. His career gained momentum in the 1970s, when he won awards at the most important festivals, including Jazz nad Odra and Jazz Juniors. For years he played in Zbigniew Namysłowski's Air Condition band, with whom he toured all over the world (including the Montreal Jazz Festival). He collaborated with leading Polish pop stars: Krystyna Prońko, Michał Bajor, Lora Szafran and Halina Frąckowiak. He is an acclaimed composer of film and theater music. He was responsible for orchestrating Chopin's works for Jerzy Antczak's “Chopin — Desire for Love” and arranging for Vanessa Mae's album.

Adam Lewandowski (percussion instruments) — brilliant jazz drummer, one of the most experienced Polish drummers and cajonists, awarded the bronze medal “Gloria Artis”. His game is characterized by precision and the ability to find himself in very different genres. Like the leader of the group, he co-created Zbigniew Namysłowski's Air Condition team. He has cooperated with brands such as Krzysztof Ścierański, Wojciech Karolak or Hanna Banaszak. His percussion can be heard in hundreds of studio recordings, music for films (e.g. “Crows” with music by Włodek Pawlik) and in popular television programs (e.g. “Chansa na”, “Dancing with the Stars”).

Paweł Puszło (double bass) — a versatile bassist and double bass player, a graduate of the Academy of Music in Katowice, lecturer at the Grażyna and Kiejstut Bacewicz Academy of Music in Łódź. It is well established in the jazz market. He was a member of Zbigniew Namysłowski's band. He is a regular member of the Marek Kądziela Trio band and carries out numerous musical projects, including many of his own in cooperation with Kuba Sienkiewicz, Lora Szafran, Danuta Błażejczyk. He supports the development of musical musicians and singers of the younger generation in his own original projects. He collaborated with legends such as Tomasz Szukalski or Artur Dutkiewicz. He is often involved in projects that combine different musical genres.
