Already in her feature film debut, Chantal Akerman shows a peculiar look at how a woman's everyday life can take on a cinematic form. Through the small movements of the body, an extended period resemblance and the apartment room as both concrete space and geometric composition, she depicts a young woman on the threshold of adulthood. The woman is trying to figure out what she must let go of and what she must put on to enter a new world and in her relationship with others: me, you, him, her. Akerman herself stars as the young woman who, after a failed relationship, takes refuge in a room in a strange city. Here she isolates herself from the outside world until she finally leaves the room, moves onto the road and is given a lift by a truck driver.
