“Jentl” tells the story of a young girl who longs to learn, although according to the tradition of her community, religious studies are reserved exclusively for men. Determined to follow her dream, Jentl disguises herself as a boyfriend and joins the Yeshiva, where she hides her true identity... A play based on a story by Nobel laureate Isaac Bashevis Singer — an American writer of Polish origin. The story was directed by Arkadiusz Klucznik, who promises a staging full of emotion, music and plasticity.
The performance used the original Kaddish prayer — it is a prayer recited only by men. It was recorded by Anat Federshnider, an actress and member of the band Habima National Theater in Tel Aviv, Israel. As in the play, our heroine and actress, refused it in the intention of her deceased father.
The play takes part in the 10th Competition for the Staging of Old Works of Polish and European Literature “Living Classics”
