About the event

American-born Jeremy Pelt is one of the most respected jazz trumpeters of today. A multiple winner of the plebiscites of the prestigious magazine “DownBeat”, he began his dynamically developing career in the late 1990s. Immediately after graduating from Berklee College of Music, he moved to New York, where he joined the legendary Mingus Big Band. It was this collaboration that opened the way for him to the very forefront of American jazz and resulted in contacts with the most prominent representatives of the genre.

Pelt's work has been recognized by critics and the music community for years. Legendary columnist Nat Hentoff repeatedly singled him out in the pages of “The Wall Street Journal”. For five consecutive years, DownBeat magazine and the Jazz Journalists Association awarded him the title of “Rising Trumpet Star”, and in 2023 the Jazz Journalists Association honored him with the “Trumpeter of the Year” award, given to the best jazz trumpeter in the United States.

Jeremy Pelt is also an esteemed author. In 2021, he made his debut as a writer with the series “Griot: Examining the Lives of Jazz's Great Storytellers”. So far, four volumes of this publication have been published, containing in-depth conversations with prominent figures of the jazz world. They address issues of racial and cultural identity, music history and philosophy of life, presenting jazz as an important element of a broader social and artistic experience.

Released in 2025 by HighNote Records, the album “Woven” confirms Pelt's position as an artist constantly seeking new means of expression. Combining a deep respect for jazz tradition with a bold, contemporary approach to sound, improvisation and ensemble storytelling, Jeremy Pelt remains one of the most important and inspiring voices in contemporary jazz.
