“In order to feel what I really want, I enter states where I am very close to the people I write about,” says Jolanta Janiczak, a playwright with a rich creative output and a two-time winner of the Gdynia Dramaturgy Award. Her works have been performed on many stages in the country, including the National Old Theatre in Krakow. The author gladly reaches for authentic historical figures, especially women, and threads omitted or distorted in previous messages. He often analyzes the social mechanisms of violence, and corporeality and emotionality become the elements that determine the fate of the characters. He rarely creates classic dramas with a linear plot and realistic dialogues. Her works often take on a collage structure. In “Mrowisko” she restores the voice and memory of hundreds of thousands of women who once worked in the homes of wealthy bourgeoisie or landowners.
