About the event

Jorge Vercillo is one of the most recognizable voices in contemporary Brazilian popular music. A singer, songwriter and musician from Rio de Janeiro, he has built a career defined by sophisticated melodies, poetic songwriting and a musical language that brings Brazilian song together with pop, bossa nova, samba, jazz and world-music influences. Since the 1990s, his work has reached audiences across generations and has become a consistent presence on Brazilian radio, television and concert stages.

His national breakthrough gained momentum with Leve, independently released in 1999. The album featured “Final Feliz”, recorded as a duet with Djavan, and opened the way for a succession of widely known songs. “Que Nem Maré”, “Homem-Aranha”, “Fênix”, “Monalisa”, “Ela Une Todas as Coisas”, “Encontro das Águas” and “Sensível Demais” are among the songs that have become part of Brazil’s popular musical memory and helped establish Vercillo’s distinctive voice as a songwriter.

Throughout his career, Vercillo has collaborated with some of the most respected names in Brazilian music, including Djavan, Milton Nascimento, Fagner, Ana Carolina, Marcos Valle, Jorge Aragão, Jorge Ben Jor, Leila Pinheiro and Flávio Venturini. His compositions have also been interpreted by major Brazilian artists such as Caetano Veloso and Maria Bethânia, further extending the reach of his songwriting within the country’s musical culture.
