Joyce

Joyce — a legendary Brazilian singer and composer — was recognized as one of the most outstanding singers of her generation by Antonio Carlos Jobim as a teenager. Despite more than 30 albums and collaborations with the world's leading musicians, her international career has long remained underestimated.

In the late 1970s, she recorded in New York the album “Natureza” with the outstanding producer Claus Ogerman and outstanding jazz musicians. The album was never released at the time, including for artistic reasons and changing musical trends. For decades she grew into a legend, only to finally see the light of day after 45 years — according to the artist's original vision.

Joyce is also a pioneer of the female voice in Brazilian music — her work, often censored during the dictatorship, touched on themes of identity and freedom. Songs like “Feminina” have become classics of the jazz scene around the world.

The concert in Jassmine is a meeting with an artist with an extraordinary history — full of courage, independence and musical sensitivity, combining Brazilian rhythms with jazz improvisation.
