About the event

“Jubilee” is a show about power and rebellion, in which the past meets the present in surprising, punk energy.
The creators were inspired by the cult film Derek Jarman — British avant-garde director, pioneer of “Queer Cinema”, visionary and icon of counterculture. Jarman sends Queen Elizabeth I, accompanied by court astrologer John Dee, on a journey to the future: to the London of the late 1970s, a city in chaos, where debauchery, violence and punk rock reign.
Between the ages moves Ariel — the spirit known from Shakespeare's “The Storm” — a figure suspended between the ages, trying to build a thread of understanding between what has passed and what is just falling apart.
Jarman's “Jubilee” is a film that is both punk and punk-oriented, in which the counterculture of the 1970s is confronted with savage capitalism. Punk - instead of the promise of freedom - turns out to be another product to buy and sell, and the slogan “no future” becomes a slogan on expensive T-shirts.

The collision of these epochs reveals that history is never an objective record of facts. It is a construct — created, selected and overwritten by each power anew. The myth of the great monarchy, often idealized in culture, becomes the starting point for a critical reflection on the origins of capitalism, colonialism and national phantasms.
In Jaszczyński's play, it is rebellion that becomes the most important theme, the one without which capitalism cannot exist.

The show features uncensored language, loud music and smoke.
