JUD - A 30 Year Celebration:17.11.2026 Berlin/Urban Spree
30 Years of JUD — A Wonderful Journey

Only rarely is a music project created that crosses all borders and finds its way into the hearts of people who are looking for something that they can really call their own. With the release of “Something Better” in 1996, JUD achieved just that.
For David (DJC), after his time with Damn The Machine, JUD was initially created as a creative outlet. But with each new release, it became clearer that JUD was much more than a collection of songs. It developed into a connection with a worldwide underground community of people who longed for music that could not be subordinated to any particular style.
Even today, this idea is more vivid than ever.
JUD unites people who are looking for their place in the world. To this day, the band refuses to be stuck into a tight musical pigeonhole. Instead, sound worlds are created that get under your skin — raw, honest and free from rules.
The sound of JUD is dark, heavy and melancholy. But this is precisely where its special power lies. Between brute energy and fragile beauty, the songs tell of loss, hope, longing and new beginnings. They gaze into the shadows of life without ever losing sight of the light.
The distinctive style of all six JUD releases was decisively influenced by David's life — from his childhood in the American state of Virginia to the music scene in Los Angeles in the 1980s and 1990s to his later life in Germany.
As David himself says:
“I never had the feeling that I fit the image of a typical American. Moving to Europe was a wonderful step for me, my soul and my music. ”
Since the first demo from 1995 — produced by none other than Ross Robinson — fans have accompanied JUD on an extraordinary journey. Over three decades, a family of musicians, producers, friends and fans has emerged around this special independent project.
Even before social media changed the music world, extensive tours and the albums “Innermission” (1997), “Chasing California” (1998), “Perfect Life” (1999), “Sufferboy” (2008) and “Generation Vulture” (2014) created a musical legacy that continues to this day. For many, JUD is more than just a band — JUD became the soundtrack of a period of life.
2026 marks the 30th anniversary of the release of “Something Better.” This anniversary is the perfect occasion to continue writing the story of JUD where it never really stopped.
David & Friends bring the music of JUD (1996—2014) back on stage and celebrate together with the people who accompanied this journey. It will be an evening full of memories, encounters and new moments — intense, honest and emotional.
Because JUD was never just music. JUD is a feeling. A community. A home for people who go their own way.
