The October concert of the Rozłogi Literary Cabaret “MEMORIES” will be an opportunity to remember the extraordinary figure Dagmar Falk — Swedish Slavist, Honorary Citizen of Suwałk and organizer of the Swedish Jaćwieska Expedition. After her studies, Dagmar worked for two years in the Swedish-Polish Chamber of Commerce, maintaining lively contacts with Poland. She was interested in Slavic culture and languages, she was fluent in Polish. In the spring of 2007, she donated the entire scientific legacy of her husband Knut Olof Falk, an outstanding linguist, head of the Department of Slavic Languages at Lund University, including many materials of the Swedish Jaćwieska Expedition — to the Suwałki District Museum.

Dagmar Falk — Swedish, Honorary Citizen of Suwałk and great friend of Poland. In the spring of 1945, she became involved in the “White Buses” action of the Swedish Red Cross. Together with Zygmunt Łakociński, a lecturer of Polish at Lund University, she went to Germany, where she collected Polish war refugees and former prisoners of concentration camps, and then took them to Sweden where they received help. Falków, as employees of the University of Lund, maintained contacts with many Polish scientists. In the years 1959-1980 Dagmar Falk was entirely responsible for the organisational side of the Swedish Jaćwieska Expedition. Together with her husband, she participated in all research trips to the Suwalki region, which she took a keen interest in. During the difficult years of the martial law and the economic crisis of the eighties, she was engaged in material and financial assistance to many residents of the Suva region. Completely selflessly and without publicity, for many years she sent them parcels of goods purchased with her own sumpt, which were lacking in Polish stores at that time. After the death of her husband in 1990, she continued to have a keen interest in Poland, especially in the Suwałskie region. She cared about the legacy of the Jaćwieska expedition. In 2005, she took part in an international scientific conference organized by the Regional Museum in Suwałki on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the beginning of the research of the cemetery in Switzerland and the creation of the Comprehensive Jaćwieska Expedition. She donated her scientific legacy after Knut Olofa to the Suwałki museum. She was awarded the prestigious title of Honorary Citizen of Suwałk for many years of sympathy for Poland, especially Suwałk and Suwałki. A boulder in front of the Suwałki museum reminds us of Dagmar and Olofa Falki and the Jaćwieska expedition, stylized as a runic stele
