Kazimierz Ostrowski's art — colorful, vibrant, dynamic — acts on us immediately, because it is made up of emotions, movement and light. In his works, geometric forms are not cool constructions, but pulsating structures in which color becomes a source of energy. Reds, pinks, yellows and browns ignite the composition, blues, grays and greens bring breath, and contrasts create tension between order and element.

About the event

Kazimierz Ostrowski's art — colorful, vibrant, dynamic — acts on us immediately, because it is made up of emotions, movement and light. In his works, geometric forms are not cool constructions, but pulsating structures in which color becomes a source of energy. Reds, pinks, yellows and browns ignite the composition, blues, grays and greens bring breath, and contrasts create tension between order and element.

Ostrowski creates a space in which the eye constantly wanders — along lines, rhythms and planes — discovering ever new relationships between shape and color. His painting resembles music: it has tempo, accents, pauses and climaxes. It is not necessary to know the theory of art to feel its power; it is enough to look to be carried away by this visual symphony.

The artist's works are captivating from the first moment: geometric layouts evoke landscapes, abstract forms are arranged in objects close to us. It is an art that does not explain the world, but experiences it — intensely, with joy and delight over form and color.

During the author's guided tour of Weronika Mojska from the Art Department, we will embark on a journey into the world seen through the eyes of an avant-garde artist from Gdynia, an educator with extraordinary charisma. The creator, whom relatives and friends affectionately called Kach - for many a master who called himself a “master”.

We will tell you about his life in pre-war and post-war Gdynia, about war experiences, about friendship and love, about successes and failures, about working in different corners of Poland, as well as about his passions and legendary sense of humor, known not only in the artistic environment of the Tri-City.

During the meeting we will find out how Kacha's characteristic compositions were created and which painting techniques were closest to him. We will explain what sgraffito is and how its painting dialogues with artistic fabric. We will look into sketches, projects and notes to see how ideas were born that later took monumental forms.

Finally, we will look at how Ostrowski's work resonates today — how he inspires subsequent generations of artists, how he connects disciplines and why his visual language remains alive, current and invariably captivating. Attention! It will be a totally dazzling experience!

Exhibition “Total Roof. Kazimierz Ostrowski's Art” was co-financed by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage from the Culture Promotion Fund — a state special purpose fund.
