Stone on stone

“THE STONE ON THE STONE” is a novel by Wiesław Myśliwski, which became a literary event already during its publication in the monthly TWORCZOŚĆ in 1983. Subsequent awards and distinctions — including the title “Books of the Decade 1975 — 1985″ in the plebiscite of TYGODNIKA KULTURALNY only confirmed the greatness of this literature. Henryk Bereza wrote about this novel: “Kamień na kamień” is a novelistic achievement of the highest measure in the scale of achievements of Polish novelist in the 20th century.

The theatrical adaptation of Andrzej Rog, an actor of the STU Theater since 1984, is guided by the words of the author himself: “Literature is not only a search for the truth about the world, it is also, and perhaps above all, a search for the truth about oneself.”

Therefore, the director focused on themes related to his generation, and young people living here and now. The wonderful literature makes the audience laugh mixed with deep reflection, and the staging procedures give the impression of the participation of the audience in the dialogue of the two sides of the character's personality.
