1000 voices in my head — but the diagnosis is: great entertainment.
In his new program KAMISI, entertainer, parodist and voice macrobat Thomas Nicolai catapults the audience back to the 80s — to a time long before streaming, Spotify and playlists.
Back then, you still had to hunt music: with the tape recorder in front of the radio.
And if the presenter talked into the song too early, everything was ruined. “Band salad” wasn't a meal, but a drama — especially without a pencil.
What follows is two hours of pure entertainment.
Comedy, music, parody — tempo, humor and joy of playing without a break.
Musically, it ranges from Depeche Mode, Suzanne Vega and Soft Cell to surprising trips to Max Raabe and Coldplay. Nicolai expertly jumps between voices, characters and songs — and sparks a true firework of parody. Including, of course, a completely derailing “Wetten, dass..? “parody in which Klaus Kinski and Udo Lindenberg, of all people, are competing.
At his side: the brilliant keyboardist Robert Neumann, who can do anything musically — and is happy to harness himself again for any slob and be made a nest.
A show like a journey back in time to the 80s — only funnier, faster and without shoulder pads.
The most entertaining two hours you can spend in a theatre right now.
In the end, there are laughs after laughs — as well as the certainty that 1000 votes are in better hands with him than with many election candidates.
