There is always something new to discover in the work of Berlin composer Emilie Mayer (1812-1883). Our four KHO string players combine their E minor quartet, which “effectively reflects Emilie Mayer's creative tendencies in the 1850s,” with Felix Mendelssohn's last completed work. The string quartet in F minor is one of his outstanding creations, which he wrote in his own year of death 1847 under the impression of the unexpected death of his beloved sister Fanny. Felix thus set a moving musical monument to their sibling relationship.
