Career of Nicodemus Dyzma

Nikodem Dyzma, the main character of Tadeusz Dołęgi-Mostowicz's novel, is a man without special talents who goes to Warsaw in search of work. The avalanche of cases and the cunning of Dyzma make him begin to climb higher and higher up the ranks of his political career. Enthusiastic society ignores his complete lack of competence.

Are we not living in a time dominated by the Dyzms? Are we not being attacked from all sides and in all fields by morbid careerists and unscrupulous people? Why do we agree to let the next Dizmos rule our world? Maybe we need them?
