CARNIVAL OF ANIMALS

Ballet performance for children from 4 years old. Music from the recording. A performance staged on the proscenium.

What does a stately lion, chirping birds, an elephant, a flickering fish or a noble swan sound like? Will it be possible to musically convey the slowness of the turtle? We can see this with our latest ballet performance for children “Carnival of Animals” based on the suite of Camille Saint-Saëns. The composer in a brilliant, musical way shows the characteristics of animals, or rather mainly animals, because one of the miniatures has the title “pianists”. Despite the great sense of humor that we find in “Carnival of Animals”, the composer forbade the performance of this work in its entirety during his lifetime. Why? Well, as a serious composer and musical genius, who gave his first musical concert at the age of five and began his studies at the Paris Conservatory at the age of 13, he did not want to be known for his zoological fantasy, as he himself defined this work. However, fate made a joke to the author, and it is “Swan” or “Elephant” from “Carnival of Animals” that come to mind at the sound of his name. Ballet performance cheerfully and with humor for whole families as part of the family cycle “Sunday mornings” will be presented by ballet dancers of the Great Theater in Łódź. Are you curious about what animals play the piano? We invite you!
