About the event

The main highlight of the event will be the screening of the phenomenal film “Chopin: The Space Concert”, shown on an impressive 6-meter screen, combined with live piano music.

The history of this painting dates back to 2010, when director Adam Ustynowicz persuaded the crew of the American space shuttle Endeavour (STS-130 mission under the command of Polish astronaut George Zamka) to take his works aboard the International Space Station (ISS) on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of Chopin's birth. It was with these sounds that astronauts recorded breathtaking views of the Earth through a seven-eyed observation dome. From unique materials, a monumental documentary was created, which was honored with the Grand Prix at the Monaco International Film Festival.

On October 19, there will be a unique opportunity to experience this image, listening live to exactly the same music that accompanied the crew of the ISS, performed virtuoso by Karol Radziwonowicz.

In the part of the evening dedicated to Ignace Jan Paderewski, you will be able to listen to the neo-romantic works of this legendary composer and statesman. The musical story will be enriched with archival visual materials dedicated to him, presented on a 3.5-meter screen.

Piano virtuoso, recognized internationally for his spontaneity of interpretation, reliable technique and absolute mastery of the keyboard. Among the most important triumphs in his artistic calendar are performances on the most prestigious stages of the world:

Carnegie Hall in New York — a daring interpretation of “Polish Fantasy” by I.J. Paderewski;

Société des Concerts in Freiburg — opening of the season with a concert in B minor by P. Tchaikovsky.
