Eight-year-old Karolcia finds a blue bead - seemingly ordinary, but possessing the magical power of wish fulfillment. The girl and her friend from the yard Piotrek will experience many adventures thanks to him, fulfilling their own and other people's dreams. However, they will find that hasty wishes can have unforeseen consequences. A formidable opponent will also appear on their way: the insidious witch Filomena, who follows the trail of the bead.

Maria Krüger's “Karolcia” has been one of the most popular Polish children's books for more than sixty years: remade, screened and staged, present on the school reading list and, above all, still eagerly read. The main goal of Lena Frankiewicz, the director of the play, was to preserve the “analog” spirit of the novel, which is why she was inspired above all by the aesthetics of the 60s and 70s — both in terms of visual and musical layers. The show is intended to refer to the signs of the past, such as (among others) the aesthetics of the Bauhaus, geometric plastic forms, jazz and soul music, and at the same time be a praise of universal values: imagination, beauty and goodness, which we all yearn for in these uncertain times. The dynamic and eventful action will be played by the actors in live and puppet plans (board dolls and forms) .Description of the play in simple language The performance is based on the book by Maria Krüger. Karolci's family moves into a new apartment. The girl finds a blue bead in the crevice of the floor. It turns out that the bead is able to fulfill wishes. Karolcia and her friend Piotrek express their dreams. However, these sometimes occur in unexpected ways. This results in a lot of funny situations. Children learn that every wish carries responsibility and consequences. Eventually, they begin to use bead magic to help others. However, it turns out that the trail of the bead is followed by the evil witch Filomena. He wants to use it to gain power over the world.Actors play in a living plan, that is, they play the characters themselves. They dance and sing songs. They also animate dolls and board objects — that is, flat, cut out of wood. The bead comes in two forms. Sometimes he is a blue ball, sometimes an actor plays him.The set design and costumes refer to the style of the sixties and seventies. Geometric patterns, neons and vibrant colors appear in the decorations. Jazz and soul music underlines this atmosphere.
