The work by Kat Válastur brings the ruins of a world considered obsolete to the stage. The rural, the mystical and the connection between the South and spiritual life are transferred onto the stage through a mythological construction that mixes the archaic with science fiction. In “Dive into You,” the choreographer and performer combines the symbolic figure of the female oracle with photosynthetic processes and tree growth. Válastur draws parallels between female oracles, which act as gateways to the divine in trance, and trees, which generate energy and oxygen through photosynthesis. By transferring this analogy into the theatre space, she creates a captivating solo — and makes dynamic elements such as vibrations, spirals and circles visible in it. Inspired by the deep, resonant sounds of the wooden percussion instrument Semantron, a percussive choreography unfolds, which is supported by a composition by musician Aho Ssan and Válastus's vocals. The work turns out to be an oracle that wants to connect us with our most secret and tender part.
