A hundred years ago, Catharines regularly visited Kraków's courtyards and squares, and popular tunes of revues and operettas attracted crowds of listeners. At the end of the exhibition “Kraków. Sounds, melodies, words” we will recall the old acoustic atmosphere of the city and present a unique music machine, which is the katarynka.
In the courtyard of the House under the Cross, Kataryniarz Jan will perform — one of the few representatives of this art in Poland, who plays every day on the Old Town Square in Warsaw. His repertoire includes songs known from Polish pre-war cinema, revues and cabaret — the slagers of Eugeniusz Bodo, Adolf Dymsza, Mieczysław Fogg and other icons of the pre-war music scene.
Led by: Kataryniarz Jan
The performance is an accompanying event of the exhibition “Kraków. Sounds, melodies, words.”
