Kazahana

Nothing is easy in the narration of this movie. Each of the numerous flashbacks, volts and time jumps opens up a new level of understanding, creates another backstory, reveals a new perspective on the unhappy love between young Sakura and her cousin Suteo, which, however, separate questions of status, fame (both lost) and shame (neither forgotten nor forgiven). All three Ninjin Club founders stand together in front of the camera and take different positions: Sakura (Yoshiko Kuga) as a young woman who must agree to an arranged marriage with a wealthy man, her mother Sachiko (Ineko Arima), who is accused of not contributing to the financial stabilization of the household, and Haruko (Keiko Kishi), who has broken her son's heart against the background of her son I can only understand my own experiences too well. A moving film of desaturated colors, the barren landscape, the timeless atmosphere. (mg)
