KELLY/STATUS: CASTING/

We are Teatr Ochota - we are looking for an actress who will join the cast of the play “Kelly 🟢”//“Kelly vs. Big Tech” directed by Justyna Sobczyk and play the title character Kelly.

Formal acting education is not required. You do not need to be a graduate of acting studies, but stage experience is necessary.

Age: 18-25 years old. Kelly is a young person. We're not gonna check your ID, but...

ATTENTION! Work on the performance will be carried out primarily at the Stefan Żeromski Theatre in Kielce from 12.01—13.03. The show consists of two autonomous parts. In principle, the actress playing the character of Kelly remains the same person in both parts of the show — both in the Warsaw and Kielce parts, playing the same role in them.

To participate in the recruitment, please submit:

Record a video (1.5 minutes) in which you are Kelly during the stream.Choose any, ordinary activity (something that could happen in her daily life). You can eat, do makeup, clean the room, cook, paint your nails, play, lie in bed, get ready to leave, or choose something completely different.Think of the recording as an attempt to enter her way of being online.You don't have to imitate a specific platform or create a professional stream. The technical quality of the recording does not matter. The phone is enough.You can improvise, you can prepare a starting point, you can let the situation develop spontaneously. We are not looking for a ready-made interpretation! We want to see how you study this character. Selected people will be invited to the second stage, which will take the form of stationary workshops at the Ochoty Theater in Warsaw. During the meeting we will improvise together with the material sent. Our goal is to see how the video footage we received changes when we move it onto the stage. We also want the workshop to be an opportunity to talk about social media, its offer and the tools we use every day.

The Warsaw performance will be based on improvisation, which we will treat as a research tool but also as an opportunity to establish and maintain contact with a young audience.

The workshop will end with the final selection of the person for the role.

Kelly vs. Big Tech/KielceKelly 🟢/Warsaw

On March 25, 2026, a trial court ruled in Los Angeles in the K.G.M. lawsuit against Meta and Google, which opened up the possibility of bringing big tech platforms to legal liability. This unprecedented event became the starting point for a new play directed by Justyna Sobczyk, prepared jointly by the Halina and Jan Machulski Theatre of Ochota in Warsaw and the Stefan Żeromski Theatre in Kielce. The performance is addressed to a young audience from the age of thirteen and adults.

Two autonomous parts will be created, each conceived for a different stage, triggering two different perspectives: private and public.

In Kielce, the artists focus on the court process itself. The show, however, will not be a reconstruction of the trial. Archival gaps will become a space for the imagination of the creative team and joint work with a young audience.

The Warsaw performance focuses on the condition of the main character. We are interested in both closeness, conflict, dependence on adults and attempts to set boundaries in relationships with loved ones, as well as relationships created through social platforms: the need to be noticed, to evaluate and be evaluated, to comment, to compare oneself with others, to seek acceptance and to react to rejection.

The show will become a space where young audiences will have the opportunity to see how the tools we use on social media work.
