When the snow melts

Director Katarzyna Minkowska and playwright Tomasz Walesiak created an original script for the performance — a portrait of a family in a multi-generational crisis. It is a story about impossible to understand decisions. About the family that is most difficult to forgive and about the need for acceptance inscribed in family relationships. About how ridiculous we are in situations that overwhelm us and how much we can endure before we decide to change anything. And about brave deeds, which are sometimes referred to as cowardly, depending on who is watching and for what reason he needs to call them. Tragedy makes family members meet in the family home. For some it is difficultreturn after a long absence, others have been in this place for decades. How do you talk about something you can't accept? How to establish contact with a person who, in theory, is close to you, but you know so little about her? The heroes and heroines, struggling with the situation, conjure up more and more narratives about it. They go back in time, interfere with the network of their own memories. They lay further layers of dreams and fantasies on a difficult to bear reality. The fuel for their hopes and nightmares is fear, fairy tales, video games and religion. The inner worlds mix with each other, creating a vortex of images. Will you take a chance and let him get carried away to know the answer to the questions: who are you, what has shaped you and why are you so afraid?

The play brings up the theme of suicidal death, including the suicide of a teenage person, which is verbally described but not shown on stage. Stimulants also appear (abuse of alcohol and drugs and cigarettes), vulgar language is used and psychological violence is manifested in relationships. A snake and a mouse appear in the video footage.
