The lecture will be devoted to one of the most important figures of Polish theater of the 20th century and will introduce his artistic path from dance education and work in the Wrocław Opera to the creation of the Wrocław Pantomime Theater and the author's concept of the theater of movement.
The meeting will show the influence of Tomaszewski on the development of the role of body, movement and stage composition in the theatre. An important element of the lecture will also be the story of his collaboration with the costume designer and set designer Zofia de Ines.
An analysis of selected productions and costumes shown in the exhibition Idols of Perversion by Zofia de Ines will show how Tomaszewski's artistic vision inspired her way of designing space and costume and how together they created a coherent, plastic language of theatre.
The lecture is aimed at people interested in the history of theater, dance, scenography and the relationship between the performing and visual arts.
