“Lalka” is a superproduction made with great fanfare and the most star-studded film in the history of Polish cinema, where, among many prominent names, starring Marcin Dorociński as Stanisław Wokulski, star of “Chłopów” — Kamila Urzedowska as Izabela Łęcka and Marek Kondrat returning to the big screen after 16 years in the role of Ignacy Rzecki. The new film adaptation of “Dolls” is a poignant, universal story told with a contemporary sensibility about love and unfulfillment, about aspirations and transformation, about a world that is just ending. It's a film that happens once every few decades: epic, full of emotion, made with impressive scenography, costumes and makeup worked out to the smallest detail, and a truly stellar cast.
