The cult and extremely controversial horror film “Devils” (1971) directed by Ken Russell returns to screens after more than 50 years in a restored, uncensored 4K version.
France 17th century. Richelieu broke the resistance of the Huguenots, the country is ruled by Louis XIII. Father Urbain Grandier is a Catholic splinter. His obsession is to seek faith through physical sensations — delight and pain. Grandier is the father of a considerable number of children and the object of the erotic obsessions of Jeanne, the sister of the superior of the Ursuline Order. When a young priest openly violates celibacy and unceremoniously marries his mistress Madeline, it causes a scandal. Grandier's opponents get a crown argument for initiating action against him.
