On November 4, at 6 p.m., the Municipal Public Library in Jaworzno will transport the thirsty for cultural experiences in time and space like a vehicle. With the power of the film image and the talents of the invited guests, we will turn the library space into an atmospheric cinema room, where we will again succumb to the magic of a moving picture from more than a century ago. We will return to the old tradition of live music sessions. A unique atmosphere will be provided by artists — Miłosz Skwirut and Oskar Cenkier.

About the event

On November 4, at 6 p.m., the Municipal Public Library in Jaworzno will transport the thirsty for cultural experiences in time and space like a vehicle. With the power of the film image and the talents of the invited guests, we will turn the library space into an atmospheric cinema room, where we will again succumb to the magic of a moving picture from more than a century ago. We will return to the old tradition of live music sessions. A unique atmosphere will be provided by artists — Miłosz Skwirut and Oskar Cenkier.

Together we will see the film “The Beast” from 1917, directed and based on the script by Alexander Hertz. It is the only fully preserved Polish film with Pola Negri. In 2017, “The Beast” was digitally restored in 4K resolution by the National Film Archive. The production is included in the List of Polish Film Heritage (LPDF).

Oskar Cenkier — Polish composer and pianist. He combines work on his own solo project, as part of which he has released two studio albums: “Bastion” (2018) and “Miła” (2022) and the concert “Concert in Lipnica Murowana” (2020) with activities in Cracow-based bands Fren and Fractal. For years he has been touring in Poland and abroad, writing music for films, theatre performances, audios and choreographic arrangements.

Miłosz Skwirut — double bass player with many years and varied stage and composition experience. He collaborates permanently with the Kraków Street Band, Knedlove and Senegalese artist Ablaye Badji, and also has a solo career: in 2019 he released the album “Road Movies” and in 2023 the album “Unspoken”. In 2022 he became a Fellow of the City of Krakow. His work is focused on the combination of improvised music, film, jazz and rock.

Tickets for the event will be available at the Tourist Information Desk, from 26 October. Priority will be given to those with an active library account.
