“The Messengers” is a moving story of God at work here and now — in the lives of ordinary people, in their decisions, crises and breakthroughs. The film is about prayer as a real force and about a community that can sustain a person when he can no longer do it himself.

The story focuses on the unusual journey of Michał Ulewiński, who travels almost 650 kilometers through Poland, carrying a 15-kilogram cross. The route — from the Vistula Lagoon to Giewont, further through Gniezno to Sokółka — is laid out in a symbolic sign of the cross on the map of the country. It's not just physical exertion. It is an intense personal prayer, a spiritual struggle and a process of profound inner transformation.

The story revolves around the story of other protagonists — people whose lives were suddenly stopped by a crisis, an encounter or a decision after which nothing was the same. Their testimonies build a story of the longing for meaning, of the pain that can become the beginning of a new life, and of the hope that never dies. The film also shows the living, dynamic reality of contemporary communities such as the Men's Rosary, the Warriors of Mary or prayer groups gathering thousands of people in Poland and abroad. It also touches on the tensions and challenges facing the Church today and the growing role of the laity in its renewal.

Director Dariusz Walusiak, creator of, among others, “Ulmowie. “Blessed Family” and “Now and at the Hour of Death” guide the viewer through a story that asks questions about faith and change—showing that they can happen in every person's life.

The power of the “Messengers” lies in their authenticity. It is a story in which it is easy to find your own questions and cracks. The film reminds us that transformation is not a closed chapter of history. It can happen today, here and now, in every person's life.
