How do we communicate meaning when words fail? We are used to relying on language, but the most important thing often remains in the understatement... A look, a pause, a gesture — what cannot be described can be felt and visualized.

We invite you to workshops on communication beyond the text. For everyone interested in the art of the picture book. We will focus on the fragility of agreement and alternative ways of building narratives. We will work with what is hidden beyond words — image, rhythm and composition — to create our own unique visual statement.

The workshop will be conducted by Art Studio Agrafka (Romana Romanyshyn & Andriy Lesiv). They are an internationally recognized artistic duo from Ukraine, winners of the prestigious BolognaRagazzi Award. They create moving and award-winning illustrated books, continually developing their art despite the ongoing war in their country.

Art studio “Agrafka” is a creative collective and design studio founded by Ukrainian artists and authors, Romana Romanyshyn and Andriy Lesiv. They are engaged in book design, illustration and creation of author's book projects. The books “Asafki” have been translated and published in more than 30 countries. The artists are winners of prestigious international awards in the field of book illustration, including Bologna Ragazzi Award, European Design Awards, Nami Concours, BIB, Best Book Design from all over the World and many others.

What do you mean, why are you missing a word? They shouted at me the claps of the movement, but they, most importantly, are often lost in words... Look, pause, gesture - they can not be described in words, they can be heard and visualized.

We ask for a master class on communication, what to see about the text. For all who are interested in the mysterious picture book. I am obsessed with a shallow mind and alternative ways of motivating the narrative. I will be reminded of what these words are called — mind, rhythm and composition — as soon as they become fluent, unique visual words.

Master classes were held by the Creator's workshop “Agrafka” (Romana Romanishin ta Andriy Lesiev). This world-famous mysterious duo from Ukraine, laureates of the prestigious BolognaRagazzi Award. Snakes become creative and appear in the cities of the illustrated books, inexorably developing their mystery without regard to the wine that prevails in this land.
