KLARA AND THE SUN - subtitles

The action of the film takes place in the near future.

In a world divided by the “lifting” process that determines the future of young people, Klara (Jenna Ortega) appears, a unique solar-powered “artificial friend” created to prevent loneliness.

When Clara finds herself at the home of Josie (Mia Tharia), a brilliant teenager struggling with a mysterious illness, an extraordinary bond is born between the characters. Soon Clara undertakes a mission that will test everything she knows about people, sacrifice and love. Her unwavering loyalty and belief in the healing power of the sun may prove to be the last hope for a grief-stricken family.

The star cast also includes Amy Adams, Steve Buscemi, Natasha Lyonne, Simon Baker and Aran Murphy.

CLARA AND THE SUN is a visually dazzling, touching and in some places humorous story about what makes us human. At a time when artificial intelligence is increasingly pervading our everyday lives, the film raises topical and vitally important questions about empathy, relationships and the limits of technology, leaving viewers with emotions long after the screening.
