To know where the heart is going, you need to know where it started. So as not to lose the road.
At the northeastern tip of Poland, on the edge of the lake, stands a house of women — mothers, daughters and sisters. Women from generation to generation transmit to each other inaccessibility, steadfastness and family secrets. Twenty-year-old Lucia will be able to start an independent life only when she faces the truth about her family. An unexpected encounter with a mysterious Doctor sets off an avalanche of events. The old clarinet leads Lucia to a history long erased from the pages of the family album and an inner journey in which the past intertwines with the present, and the music becomes a space for the expression of what has been silenced for years. In order for Lucia to hear the melody of her own life, all the veils must be broken and the offenses forgiven. In the background, the wild, glacial landscapes of the Suva isthmus and the Klezmer Orchestra of Sejn, whose music is a bridge between the past and the present.
KLARNET is an intimate drama about intergenerational relationships, feminine power and finding your own way in a world full of expectations and fear of rejection. Set in a local cultural context, the film sensitively talks about the need for autonomy, memory and voice recovery.
