“Classically at the Biedermanns” — guitar recital by Hubert Marczak

The University of Lodz and the FocusOn Foundation invite Hubert Marczak — a young musician from Łódź, winner of national and international competitions, to a guitar recital. The concert as part of the series “Classically at the Biedermanns” will take place on Wednesday 21 October 2026 at 17.00 in the Alfred Biedermann Palace (ul. Franciszskanska 1/5).

During the recital, compositions by Alexander Tansman, Giulio Regondi and Antonio José will sound. The program will allow you to explore the diverse facets of guitar music — its subtlety, expression and virtuosity.

The evening will open “Pièce en forme de Passacaille” by Alexander Tansman. The piece from 1953 refers to passacaglia — a musical form in which a recurring theme becomes the basis of subsequent variations. Listeners will be able to follow how the same theme changes with a variety of sounds and ways of leading voices on the guitar.

Then we will hear “Introduction et Caprice”, Op. 23 by Giulia Regondi. This romantic composition combines a slow, expressive introduction with an exuberant, virtuoso whim. Singing melodies and striking passages reveal both the delicacy of the instrument and its technical capabilities.

The program will be completed by Antonio José's “Sonata para guitarra”. Written in 1933, the four-part sonata combines Spanish character with rich harmony and lyrical melodies. Subsequent parts guide listeners through the changing moods — from energy and dancefloor to focus and dynamic finale.

And all this is performed by Hubert Marczak - a student of the secondary school of the Henryk Wieniawski General Education School of Music in Łódź. The guitarist develops his skills under the guidance of Dr. Maciej Staszewski, professor at the Academy of Music in Łódź.

Among his most important achievements are the Grand Prix and first place at the XI International Guitar Competition in Zruč nad Sázavou, Czech Republic, and an award for the extraordinary interpretation of Giulia Regondi's “Introduction et Caprice”, which will also be included in the program of the October recital. The artist also won the Grand Prix “Great Guitar Maniac” at the XV National Łukasz Pietrzak Competition, first place and the Journalists' Prize at the Baltic Guitar Days International Festival and Competition and the Grand Prix of the National Instrumental Competition REZONANS.

He performs as a soloist and a member of ensembles, presenting the repertoire of different eras. He has performed at the Royal Łazienki in Warsaw, the Warsaw Chamber Opera Theatre, the Krzysztof Penderecki European Music Centre in Lusławice and the Łódź Philharmonic. The audience of the Biedermann Palace had already had the opportunity to hear him during the previous concerts of the series “Classically at the Biedermanns”.

The young guitarist improves his craft at domestic and foreign master classes. He is a scholarship holder of, among others, the Minister of Culture and National Heritage, the Marshal of the Łódź Voivodeship and the National Fund for Children. She is also happy to engage in charity concerts in integration kindergartens, hospitals and nursing homes, sharing her musical passion with listeners.

Participation in the concert is free of charge, but reservations are required in advance. Form
