Spring edition of the Klasyka na Ołowianka series, showing the richness of Polish chamber music. The concert brings together two important works of Polish chamber music — Juliusz Zarębski's Piano Quintet in G minor Op. 34 and Kazimierz Wiłkomirski's String Quartet. Although they were created in different eras, they are united by a reflection on Polish identity and the power of intimate dialogue. Zarębski wrote his Quintet in 1885, at the end of his life. It is one of the most important works of Polish Romanticism, combining expression with rich colors and a narrative approach to form. Four parts lead from the dramatic beginning, through lyrical and tense moments, to the final closing of musical ideas.Wiłkomirski creates his Quartet in 1942, in a completely different historical context. His music, more focused and intimate, nevertheless retains a strong expression and narrative. The composer, who is also a cellist and educator, treats the tradition flexibly — some parts of the work were later developed, which emphasizes their openness to different interpretations. The juxtaposition of both works shows the way from late Romanticism to the 20th century — from Zarębski's piano boom to the more intimate language of Wiłkomirski. However, they are united by a common idea: telling about the world through the intimate dialogue of instruments. The artists will present two beautiful compositions, connected by a remarkable story. Both works show the power of the medium that is the string quartet — a combination of instruments considered crowning for chamber music. Demanding from musicians unusual balance, harmony and common timbre. In Juliusz Zarębski's Quintet, the piano part will be performed by Dominika Glapiak.

Duration of the concert: approx. 70'
