The concert program juxtaposes Brahms's music with the work of American and Polish composers, creating a musical dialogue about memory, transformation and evolution of the violin and piano duet tradition. The focal point of the program is the 2nd Sonata in A major for violin and piano by Johannes Brahms. Her reflective character permeates the entire four-part piece, which features graceful melodies, subtly swaying rhythms of Hungarian dances, and intimate dialogue between violin and piano. The sonata's warmth and lyricism form the starting point for the rest of the compositions presented during the concert.David Kirkland Garner's lyrical and contemplative piece Sky Was Good for Flying was created in 2016 with Nicholas DiEugenio and Mimi Solomon in mind. In it, the composer transforms the inspiration of Beethoven's Kreutzer Sonata, creating his own dreamlike and imaginative sound world, which is a striking contrast and at the same time an interesting complement to the Brahms sonata. On the other hand, Karola Szymanov's Romance Op. 23

On the other hand, Karol Szymanowski's Romance Op. 23 combines lush, late-Romantic chromatics with beautiful rooted melodies in the tradition of Polish music. The result is a poetic musical language with a unique, fully individual character.
