It is with undisguised joy that we return to the “Club of Abandoned Women”, a play whose premiere viewers had the opportunity to see during this year's XXI Skawina Theatre Week. Magdalena Wołleiko's play celebrated its premiere in Sydney in 2011 and immediately stole not only women's hearts.
“The Abandoned Women's Club”... a somewhat frivolous comedy that can cause a blush on many faces... When three friends with a rich “life portfolio” meet in a hotel bar... it is known that it will not be polite and straightforward. Nothing connects as much as someone else's misfortune. Husbands, fiancés, exes and current is an inexhaustible topic of female frustration. And such topics are difficult to grasp soberly. From here, the waiter will firmly trample the paths connecting the kitchen with the ladies' table, embellishing his journey with more and more spicy stories shortening the distance with the hotel guests. Let's settle for two and a half hours of flirting among dangerous relationships and colligations. But time will pass quickly, Mask from the first act draws into the story like Trump spaghetti (this is not a political allusion but a reference to a Disney fairy tale)...
In the performance we will see four women: the Tigress Doris, mourning (temporarily) abandonment by a French lover; for whom the world does not stand still — emptiness does not create emptiness; her dissatisfaction, insatiability and buzzing sex appeal will not allow her to stop hunting for too long — in this role known to a wide audience — Joanna Gądek. This is probably the first role of Malina of this type — how good to see her in such a spicy version.
The opposite of Doris, although the common denominator of both ladies will be “abandonment”, is Iza - a doctor of unconventional medicine. The husband has gone into oblivion, and through his experiences and relationships with his husband and men he shifts the object of sighs to women. She tries to put her emotions in order with yoga, but somewhere in the depths of her purse, a hidden photo still stirs them and evokes the memory of a beautiful romance with a Bulgarian lover... It turns out that the memory of this romance will return with a strong blow thanks to the character of a charming waiter... In the role of Iza — the phenomenal Basia Tomków.
The most “normal” of this group of women is — Anna. It is a walking understanding, subtlety and grace at the same time... although after another mohito more and more difficult to step on the ground. There is no easy life, undoubtedly, a glass of liquor allows you to more worthily endure the longing and shakiness of relations with the still absent husband - a celebrity. Paulina Czopek played this role with exceptional grace.
We have another female figure, although not belonging to the three women from the hotel table with teacups and mohito. This is Gabi, a young and beautiful model from across the ocean who takes life in full handfuls. And she wants to repeat the betrayal of her lover with treason with anyone... even with the husband of a friend of my mother from among our “trinity” (well, she was not aware of this). Lovely in this role — Cecylia Biel.
The ladies' conversations are still eavesdropping and mixing in their stories, the insanely handsome Mario — a waiter, supposedly Italian, who would best stuff ordinary hotel food with aphrodisiac. It crosses the boundaries of the waiter profession, but which suits some women very much. This ubiquitous character, an Italian waiter who becomes a Bulgarian — was charmingly created by Marek Andruszczyszyn.
It turns out, as it happens in this type of comedy, that it is this one place in the city that catches the attention of all the characters. Hence, when voices come from a nearby hotel room, it is not difficult to guess that the characters in it will be an integral part of this intrigue. And since the bathroom is in the hallway, it is known that an awkward situation must come to light. Because it is in this next room that the jump to the side is cut — the famous celebrity Tadeusz, Ani's husband... with Gabi, Doris's daughter.
In the role of Tadeusz we will see Tomasz Okarmus... oh liar over liars, orator over orators, next to him Wielka Improvisacja is a pikuś... the fact is that Tomasz adds his points with adoration, which surprise not only the director, but above all his colleagues on stage. What joy does an orator have when he cooks his stage brothers & # #x1f60a;
The mask has a lot of comedy to its credit, but when choosing such a text, there was no ambition to moralize (God forbid); to preserve the style or to be bon ton... There were no half-measures and understatements — the first entrance of the waiter and the American model revealed that words would not be wrapped in cotton. Sulfur jokes written in rather thick lines, secret conversations of girlfriends about lovers, sex, relationships and multiple experiences... “states” - named after their names in the play - do not entertain everyone equally. As they say: “not what's pretty, what's pretty, but who likes it”... So it is with a sense of humor, taste and affection for literature or art...
The premiere performance blew the wind in the sails. The reaction of the audience already in the first minutes of the performance convinced the Maski team that what they wore — managed — to totally amuse the audience! And we wish you and you such a repeat on October evenings with Maska & # #x1f60a;
